I stayed 4 weeks in Tanzanie in May June visiting all the places of the projects of PAMINA.
I was more than happy to stay in Endulen St Luke for the first time since the displacements of the Maasaï people, which started in 2022. I enjoyed a whole weekend with the children, now 327 in the pre- and primary school, I only knew a few of them, but they seemed to be happy to see me as their welcoming with songs was overwhelming. The kids are doing well in studies, but there is a big lack of class rooms and spece especially in the boy’s dormitory. This year there are 5 deaf students and 3 with a hearing problem in P7. For the boys no problem going for secondary school at Tengeru Boys, Arusha, for Theresia we have to find another possibility for secondary. She is a very good student, she needs to study further. Laitness (with a hearing problem, but in an ordinary class) is completely fluent in the sign language and she is doing the translations during the parade and other gatherings.
In Endamaghan St Luke Secondary has more than 200 students in F1, F2 and F4 classes. There are some students from St Luke Endulen in these classes, nice for me to see them there. For the time being PAMINA has only the rain water collection project in Endamaghan. The big problem here is that there is no dining hall, the students are taking their meals outside, by rainfall in the class rooms. The agriculture has been increased, now another borehole is needed to irrigate the cultivations. The people of the village of Endamaghan can come to get water from the school compound.
After the rough road of 3 hours I was happy to see the water coming up from the borehole. The pump is run by a generator, fuel is expensive. We need now fist of all the Simtanks but also the solar system to run the pump. A Maasaï man has been employed as a watchman to stay in the small construction close to the borehole. We nourish hope of getting the subvention from AERM to be able to finish the project so that the people of Matala can come to get water for their activities.
At Daniel Brottier-DOGODOGO the children, my 108 grandchildren, were there on holydays. So I spent my time doing activities with them, like talent show, plying games, reading, drawing and teaching English. The renovation of the class rooms continues, slowly, but when funds are there, more quickly. The carpenter class is making the furniture for the classes now and the sewing class is working on the school uniforms. Sales of the ‘LOGODOGO’ products here in France contribute to break even of the sewing class financially.
At whole my stay was very positive in observing how our projects advance well in Tanzania. I’m more than motivated to continue this adventure with all of you involved and I would like to share with you my joy of satisfaction.
PAMINA will be present at the ‘Village des associations’ in the parc of Citadelle in Strasbourg during the weekend of 12-13th of September. I’ll be on the flee market Bd de la Marne on Sunday 27th for PAMINA. In December PAMINA will be present at Christmas Market in Strasbourg 15th or 22nd of December and as usual in Kaysersberg.
